Strength in Solidarity: A Panel Discussion with Our Legal and LGBTQIA+ Community Members

As we commemorate the 54th anniversary of the 1969 Stonewall riots, kickstarting the LGBT rights movement in the United States, ALANYC's DE&I Team will host a panel discussion. Our panelists Toni Jaeger-Fine, Ellie Krug, and Christian D. Rutherford will share their journeys, and discuss what allyship should look like and how the legal industry can create a supportive and inclusive environment for our colleagues.

Toni Jaeger-Fine

Toni Jaeger-Fine is principal of Jaeger-Fine Consulting, which provides services to attorneys, law firms, and other organizations on topics including talent management, development, and retention; diversity, equity, and inclusion; being supervised effectively; wellbeing; and a range of other attitudes and behaviors that lead to success. Jaeger-Fine is also Senior Counselor at Fordham Law School, at which she served as Assistant Dean for more than 16 years. Read More

 

Ellie Krug

In 2009, when she was a civil trial attorney in Cedar Rapids with 100+ trials, Ellen (Ellie) Krug transitioned from male to female; she later became one of the few attorneys nationally to try jury cases in separate genders. Christian D. Rutherford
Christian Rutherford is an attorney with New York City boutique litigation law firm Holwell Shuster & Goldberg.  He is graduate of Brown University, has an M.P.A. in Nonprofit Management from NYU’s Robert F. Wagner Graduate School of Public Service and a J.D. from Columbia University School of Law. Christian has served as a member of the firm’s Diversity & Inclusion Committee, taken a strong lead in diversity and inclusion efforts including founding the firm’s LGTQIA+ Affinity group, coordinating Hispanic Heritage, Black History and Pride Months and coordinating programming for the firm’s First-Generation Professionals Affinity Group. Read More
