It’s Show Time! Big Apple Bites: Cybersecurity 9-1-1

A play in 3 acts:

  • Act 1: Account takeovers may be innocuous on the surface but when you get that call from a partner on a lazy summer afternoon, you realize differently: “I think my account has been compromised.” We look at a local firm’s experience as the target of a carefully orchestrated, months-long campaign that resulted in the takeover of multiple key accounts.
  • Act 2: Direct from the trenches of Third Avenue and 40th Street, a first-person account of how a firm responded to a cyber-attack, minute-by-minute and hour-by-hour. We then zoom out to survey threats afflicting the legal industry at large.
  • Act 3: Cybersecurity is a balancing act of governance and convenience. The DLA Piper WannaCry ransomware incident was a nightmare. In this session we will discuss what can firms can do to minimize their own risks.

Takeaways include:

  • Learn how the move to the cloud changed a firm’s Data Governance, Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery stances – in response to client demands.
  • Leave the session with a pulse on current cybersecurity issues firms face today and how leaders are finding ways to overcome these challenges.
  • Tips for aligning risk with technology and the strategy to carry them out.
  • Key success factors for going beyond coping to responding to disruption.

Lean and Green: How Environmental Sustainability Drives Success in Operational Management

There are varying viewpoints on the importance of environmental sustainability in the legal workplace today. Industry and Millennials are helping to drive change in sustainability as an important factor across the board, including law firms. In this session, we will explore how your firm can frame the conversation of operational efficiencies to keep up with the new pressures of industry and Millennials seeking sustainability, while addressing other groups of stakeholders that have different driving factors, such as cost-consciousness and efficiency.

This very interactive session was presented at the National Conference in Texas in April this year and received excellent reviews. It features a fun Jeopardy-style sustainability game.

Objectives:

  • Gain a deeper understanding of current work environments and cultures in firms with stakeholders, including clients, partners, associates and professional staff.
  • Analyze operations and systems currently in place for opportunities to drive change and make improvements in operations with sustainability as a driving factor.
  • Make a data-driven business case for creating efficiencies in the office environment that will drive both operational success and environmental sustainability program success.
