National Disability Employment Awareness Month

Every October, the United States observes National Disability Employment Awareness Month. The month calls attention to an often overlooked issue in the employment landscape—workers with disabilities. Although the initiative was set forth by an act of Congress in 1945 and has been celebrated in various ways over the years its fundamental aims have not changed. NDEAM issues two core messages.

For the entire month, organizations, institutions, and individuals all over the country join to host events and share resources in a collaborative effort to promote the employment of people with disabilities.
