Storytelling Show and Tell Time
Wednesday, September 02, 2020, 5:30 PM - 6:30 PM EDT
Category: Networking Events

Before we had any type of media, people engaged with each other by telling stories.  Storytelling is actually an art.  A story has the potential to connect us to each other, igniting common feelings as human beings like happiness, sadness, fear, and pride. Stories can be told by ordinary people leading ordinary lives.  However, we are all living through extraordinary times right now and chances are we all have some stories to tell.

In this Business Partner Hangout hosted by Loeb Leadership, let’s take the time to share some stories and practice the good old fashioned art of listening to each other.  The challenge is to bring an “object” to show (think “Show and Tell”) to help launch your story.  Your story does not have to be about the coronavirus and quarantine (although we are sure there are some stories to tell about experiences that have happened recently), it can be a story from days past that you’d like to share.  We’ll have one hour for our event.  Natalie Loeb, Gordon Loeb and Dave Sarnoff of Loeb Leadership will all be prepared with a story to “Show and Tell”.

We invite 7 additional participants to be prepared to share a story/show and tell!  Brag to us, make us laugh, make us cry or challenge our thinking…it’s up to you!  If you would like to tell a story, please let Natalie know by emailing her at [email protected]  by 9/1/20.   At the end of the event, we’ll poll the audience for their favorite story.  The person attached to that story will receive a $50 Amazon gift card.  Oh…and all stories are better with a cocktail or beverage.  So bring your favorite along!  We look forward to storytelling/show and tell with you!

If you’d like to get some storytelling techniques, check out this video with Jim Carrey, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4U70RsDxwvg.  Here are the tips:

  • Paint the scene
  • Use vivid and emotive language, a good story evokes emotion
  • Set up the “turning point” of the story
  • Use emotions/facial expressions/impressions
  • If there is a moral of the story, share the moral of the story
