About the film

Released in 1991, Mississippi Masala is a romantic drama starring Denzel Washington, Sarita Choudhury, and Roshan Seth. The story follows a young Indian-Ugandan woman, displaced from Uganda alongside her family during Idi Amin's 1972 expulsion of Asians, who falls into an interracial romance with an African-American man after resettling in rural Mississippi.
