Join us for DEI’s quarterly book club session as we explore How to Be an Antiracist by Dr. Ibram X. Kendi.

Dr. Kendi is a National Book Award-winning author of 16 books for adults and children, 10 of which were #1 New York Times best sellers. Dr. Kendi is the Andrew W. Mellon Professor in Humanities at Boston University and director of BU Center for Anti Racist Research. He is also a contributor writer at The Atlantic and a CBS News Racial Justice Contributor.  Published in 2019, How to be an Antiracist explores Antiracism as a transformative concept that reorients the conversation about racism. At its core, racism is a powerful system that creates false hierarchies of human value. Readers will explore widening circle of antiracist ideas—from the most basic concepts to visionary possibilities—that will help readers see all forms of racism clearly, understand their poisonous consequences, and work to oppose them in our systems and in ourselves. Using ethics, history, law, science, and Dr. Kendi’s personal story of awakening to antiracism, this book is for anyone who wants to go beyond the awareness of racism to the next step: contributing to the formation of a just and equitable society.
